The KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter (KSEM) is an energy meter with versatile functions. Thanks to the additional processing power built into the device, it is technically prepared for future functions and actions and represents an excellent solution for all KOSTAL inverters.

A major advantage of the KSEM is its factory pre-configuration for PLENTICORE plus, PIKO IQ, and PIKO MP plus. Therefore, immediate installation is possible without adjusting parameters or other settings.

One device – many possibilities.

The KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter enables optimal use of energy in the household. With the energy meter, 3-phase energy measurement is carried out in real time. The measurement data is transmitted to the inverter via standard interfaces. In this way, the KSEM supports energy management of KOSTAL’s PLENTICORE plus, PLENTICORE BI, and PIKO MP plus inverters.

The configuration of the inverters in relation to the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter is carried out with the aim of maximizing self-consumption and displaying self-consumption / household consumption in the PV system portal. For this purpose, the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter must be connected to the KOSTAL Solar Portal.

For the use of the PLENTICORE BI as a three-phase AC storage system, no changes to the existing PV installation are required. The only components needed are the PLENTICORE BI inverter, the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter, and a compatible high-voltage battery, such as the BYD Battery Box Premium.

One major advantage of the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter is its factory pre-configuration for the PLENTICORE plus and PIKO MP plus. Therefore, it allows immediate installation without the need to adjust parameters or other settings. In case the battery function is used, the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter is connected to the inverter and the battery and configured based on these two devices. In this case, the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter takes over the control of charging and discharging functions.
