The modern energy environment
The demands for the production and storage of photovoltaic energy are constantly increasing. Therefore, the need to generate and use as much electricity as possible from renewable energy sources becomes increasingly clear. After all, the higher the self-consumption of electricity, the greater the level of energy independence.
For this exact reason, an increasing number of photovoltaic system owners are turning to a hybrid inverter or an inverter with integrated energy storage, featuring intelligent control and high efficiency. In this way, they achieve the storage and, consequently, better utilization of the generated/surplus electrical energy.
KOSTAL’s solutions for this type of inverter are the PLENTICORE+ and PIKO MP+.
The PLENTICORE Plus can be combined with a BYD Battery-Box, creating the perfect device combination for efficient energy storage. No additional devices are required (unlike with pure inverter-storage systems) for connecting a BYD battery. This is because the PLENTICORE Plus manages energy control for both the photovoltaic system and the storage unit simultaneously. As a result, a cost-efficient solution and greater energy independence are achieved.
For even higher autonomy and benefits, it is possible to combine the system with the BYD Combiner Box, which enables the connection of up to three high-performance storage systems.
Similarly, with the PIKO MP+ inverter-energy storage system, the energy generated by the photovoltaic installation is temporarily stored in the BYD Battery-Box and used at a later time. By combining up to three BYD storage systems via the BYD Combiner Box, the KOSTAL inverter achieves a capacity of up to 66.3 kW, enabling highly flexible operation of EV charging stations, water heaters, air conditioning systems, etc.
Advanced BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS batteries
The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS storage batteries are more flexible and scalable. With the new generation, it is possible to connect up to three battery towers within a single system. Each battery can also deliver its nominal capacity as power output — meaning 1C. This makes the new series ideal for on-grid, on-grid plus backup, and off-grid systems.
The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS consists of 2 to 5 HVS battery modules connected in series, providing usable capacities of 5.1 kWh, 7.7 kWh, 10.2 kWh, and 12.8 kWh. In addition, direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVS units allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh.
